Petrelintide

Petrelintide is a long-acting amylin analogue being developed for chronic weight management. Its chemistry addresses two practical difficulties with amylin-based medicines: extending exposure after administration and preventing the peptide from becoming unstable or aggregating in a formulation. Human studies have now progressed from early pharmacokinetic trials to a published phase 2 obesity trial, with a separate diabetes trial reported in October 2026. Together, these studies support further development while showing why the weight response, formulation design and gastrointestinal tolerability need to be interpreted together.
