Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a single modified peptide that activates receptors for two meal-related hormones, GIP and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Its trials show substantial average weight reduction and glucose lowering, with further evidence in obstructive sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease and heart failure associated with obesity. The approved products, Mounjaro and Zepbound, share the active molecule but carry different indications. Those distinctions changed during 2026 and are essential to interpreting the current research.
